To Trick or Treat?

If your a parent and not looking forward to the children bouncing off the walls for the
next week, here's a great idea some family friends shared with us.
They allow their kids to Trick and Treat as much as they want and when the candy arrives home
they buy the candy from the kids and the money goes towards a new toy instead.
Pretty great idea!

So have a ultra spooky and safe Halloween!

The store will be closed at 4:00 pm so we can have fun too!

Imaginative Natural Play

Play is an important factor in all areas of child development – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. It is increasingly noted that children today seem to be losing their ability to play. Children want to be entertained and can’t seem to play on their own. And children who do play are acting out scenes they’ve seen on television and in movies, not playing out of their own imaginations.

What can parents do? By selecting suitable toys that can cultivate creative thinking and respects children’s need for actively involved creative play. Simple, open-ended, multi-purpose toys are the key. Toys that are not completely detailed allow children to use their imaginations. Those that allow children to decide how to play with it encourage creativity.
Toys that can be turned into many things facilitate abstract thinking. For example, Cloths and silks can be turned into capes, aprons and rivers. Dolls with simple features allow the child to decide if the baby is laughing, crying or sleeping.

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is the appointed time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,
we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time
paying attention to problems.
We give our energy
to those who cause us trouble
instead of those who bring peace.
Starting now,
let’s be on the lookout
for the bits of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people
who bring love and light to everyone
who is blessed to know them.
You are one of those people.
On Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
